Parent FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Ivy Academy.

A parent-friendly guide to our Montessori-inspired and STEM-enriched early-learning environment.

What makes Ivy Academy different from other preschools?

Ivy Academy offers a thoughtful early-learning experience that brings together the calm, child-centered foundation of Montessori education with joyful, age-appropriate STEM discovery. Rather than simply teaching children what to think, we help them learn how to think: how to ask questions, explore ideas, solve problems, work independently, and grow with confidence.

What age groups does Ivy Academy serve?

Ivy Academy serves children from 18 months through 6 years of age. Our programs are designed to support each stage of early childhood development with age-appropriate learning experiences that encourage independence, confidence, social growth, and a lifelong love of learning.

What are the school hours?

Ivy Academy is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with scheduling options designed to support the needs of today's families. Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment where your child can learn, grow, and thrive while you move through your day with confidence and peace of mind.

How do parents schedule a tour?

Families may schedule a tour directly through our website or contact our administrative team during regular school hours. During your visit, you can meet our educators, explore our classrooms, and see how our Montessori-inspired and STEM-enriched environment supports curiosity, confidence, and joyful learning.

Is Ivy Academy Montessori or STEM?

Ivy Academy is both Montessori-inspired and STEM-enriched. We believe young children benefit from the best of both worlds: the independence, concentration, hands-on learning, and self-directed discovery of Montessori education, combined with the creativity, problem-solving, and exploration of STEM.

What is your educational philosophy?

We believe children learn best when they feel safe, respected, and empowered to explore at their own pace. Our teachers serve as guides, carefully observing each child and offering individualized support, encouragement, and meaningful lessons. At Ivy Academy, we nurture the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively.

Is STEM appropriate for preschool-aged children?

Yes. At Ivy Academy, STEM is introduced in joyful, age-appropriate ways that feel natural to young children. STEM is not about excessive screen time or advanced technology. It is about helping children ask questions, observe closely, build, create, compare, experiment, and solve problems through hands-on experiences.

Will my child be prepared for Kindergarten?

Yes. Ivy Academy is designed to help children build the academic, social, emotional, and practical foundations needed for a confident transition to Kindergarten and beyond. Children develop early literacy, mathematics, science awareness, communication skills, practical life skills, independence, focus, responsibility, and confidence.

What does a typical day look like?

Each day includes a thoughtful balance of structure, exploration, movement, creativity, and meaningful work. Children may experience Montessori work cycles, STEM exploration, outdoor learning, creative arts, social development, practical life activities, and individualized learning opportunities.

Do children have time to play?

Absolutely. Play is one of the most important ways young children learn. At Ivy Academy, learning and play go hand in hand through purposeful play, imaginative exploration, outdoor activity, and collaborative experiences that build creativity, language, problem-solving skills, social confidence, and emotional understanding.

How do teachers support each child?

Our educators carefully observe each child's interests, strengths, developmental readiness, and learning style. Lessons and activities are individualized whenever possible so children feel appropriately challenged while remaining supported and successful.

How do you communicate with parents?

We believe strong communication between school and family is essential to a child's growth. Families receive regular updates, classroom communication, progress information, and opportunities to connect with teachers and school leadership.

What programs do you offer?

Ivy Academy offers age-specific early-childhood programs designed to meet the developmental needs of young children and the scheduling needs of families. Our admissions team will help you identify the program and schedule that best fits your child's age, readiness, and family needs.

How do you ensure safety?

The safety and well-being of every child is our highest priority. Our campus is designed with security, cleanliness, and child safety in mind. We maintain careful supervision, secure entry procedures, health and safety standards, trained staff, and age-appropriate classroom environments.
